A WALK FOR COAST LOVERS

Wharf to Wharf Walk is a 27 kilometre coastal walk along rugged cliffs, spectacular headlands, secluded bays, lakes, freshwater lagoons and long, isolated beaches.

The walk links existing trails through public coastal reserves, flora reserves, beaches and Bournda National Park, providing a connected walking experience along the stunning coastline between Merimbula and Tathra.

The walk starts and finishes at two of Australia’s most historic wharfs, Merimbula and Tathra. The experience can be undertaken as two or three single day hikes; an overnight hike, camping at Hobart Campground in Bournda National Park; or for the those short on time, but not energy - a day hike.

It is a walk for coast lovers, nature enthusiasts and photographers. The walk provides some of the best whale-watching vantage points on the coast during the spring migration from September – November each year.

community project

Most importantly the Wharf to Wharf Walk is a Community Project. It was initiated and developed by the Lions Clubs of Pambula-Merimbula and Tathra in cooperation with Bega Valley Shire Council, NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service and a wide range of community groups.

Walkers have an opportunity to contribute to local environmental knowledge and records by participating in the Atlas of Life in the Coastal Wilderness citizen science project during their hike.

This walk also brings together and profiles local Sapphire Coast community groups that record our history and care for the natural environment. We encourage you to check out their projects and get involved.

WELCOME TO COUNTRY

We the Yuin people ask that when you are in this country you respect this country,

We ask that you don’t do wrong on our country and you look after this country,

And in return,

May the sun (our father) bring you new energy by day,

And the Moon softly restore you by night,

And the rain wash away your worries,

May the breeze from Biamanga blow new strength into your being,

May you walk gently through our sacred Yuin country and know of its beauty every day of your life,

We welcome you all here to our beautiful Yuin country!
